Karina Bes is working as a director, coach and performer in The Netherlands. She holds a MFA in Dramaturgy/Creative Development from the Professional School of the Arts in Utrecht, and a BA in musical theater (performing) from The Kunsthumaniora, Antwerp. She attended the 2007 Directors Lab (Lincoln Center Theater, New York), for which she received a stipendium from the VandenEnde foundation. She was a member of the 2009 Nu-Workshop (M-Lab, Amsterdam), for which she received a stipendium from the Scholingsfonds voor Kunst en Cultuur. She is the artistic director of Superbia SBP. Recent directing credits include Rent (Virgiel), The Wild Party (M-Lab), Teen Queen (VAK Delft), KEET (De Wereldband, National tour) and Je bent me er eend/tje (A project with ex-homeless people). As a performer, she played lead roles in musicals as The Wild Party, Rent and Jesus Christ Superstar. She is the lead singer of the musicaltheater duo Kar-Ma, together with pianist Maudy Apon, with performances throughout The Netherlands. For The Internationalists, Karina has directed a workshop performance of The Seven Deadly Sins: Wrath.
