Around the World
"Connecting audiences and actors, around the world."
The Internationalists explore the very nature of international theatre with this annual experience. By presenting plays simultaneously around the world, we give audience and actors the chance to connect in real and virtual space, blurring the lines between theatre and life.
Work has been seen live in New York, Berlin, den Hague, Bucharest, Mexico City, and Paris. Virtually, thousands have watched collectively in over 61 countries.
Each year, members of the Internationalists come together to create virtual experiences that may be experienced by many, or only by a few. The intimacy of the virtual experience, heightens the sense of what it means to be apart.
The themes of each year's festival change, and as technologies advance, so do we.
Around the World productions include:
LIVE PRESENTATIONS of written works from around the world, presented live to an audience and broadcast online
SIMULTANEOUS PERFORMANCE between one city and another. The audience watches live from a theatre, while the work is also broadcast online for a larger audience
THEATRE FOR ONE where one audience member, and one performer virtually, create a play together
VIRTUAL PERFORMANCE in which either the text or the performance is created live in virtual space
SYMPOSIUM to allow connectivity between artists around the world. Artists connect with each other through real-time technology to engage in a deep question about what it means to make art in the interconnected world
